Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from

03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and

from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following

information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,

radar, and meteorological analysis.



Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through

0130 UTC.



...TROPICAL WAVES...



The axis of a tropical wave is near 85/86W, north of 03N, moving

westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the 

ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.



The axis of a tropical wave is near 101/102W, north of 02N, 

moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in

the ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.



The axis of a tropical wave is near 121W, north of 02N, moving 

westward at around 5 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the 

ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.



The axis of a tropical wave is near 137/138W, from 02N to 19N, 

moving westward at 10 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the 

ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.



...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...



The monsoon trough extends from 10N85W to 10N105W. The ITCZ extends 

from 10N105W to 10N116W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong 

convection is noted from 02N to 12N east of 108W, and from 10N to 

16N between 110W and 135W.



...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...



Moderate or weaker winds, and moderate seas, prevail over the 

open waters off Mexico. Gentle to moderate winds, and slight to

moderate seas, are over the Gulf of California.



For the forecast, fresh to strong gap winds and building seas 

are expected across the Gulf of Tehuantepec into the weekend. 

Elsewhere, a moderate pressure gradient will support mostly 

gentle to moderate winds across the offshore waters of Mexico. 

The pressure gradient between high pressure NW of the area and 

lower pressure over the Colorado River Valley will support fresh 

southerly winds across the northern Gulf of California late this 

weekend into early next week.



...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, 

AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...



Fresh to strong winds, and moderate seas, prevail over and 

downstream the Gulf of Papagayo. Gentle to moderate winds are 

found between the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. Light to gentle 

winds and moderate seas are noted elsewhere. 



For the forecast, fresh to strong gap winds and occasional rough

seas will pulse across the Gulf of Papagayo into early next 

week. Moderate or weaker winds and moderate seas in SW swell are 

expected across the remainder of the waters through the period. 



...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...



High pressure prevails over the waters N of 20N. The pressure

gradient between this area of high pressure and a tropical wave

near 137/138W is supporting moderate to fresh winds from 15N to

20N and W of 130W. Seas over these waters are estimated to be 

approaching 8 ft in the area of fresh winds. Elsewhere, gentle to

moderate winds and moderate seas prevail across the discussion 

waters.



For the forecast, seas to 8 ft will accompany the tropical wave 

as it moves westward through Thu night. Farther south, southerly

swell to 8 ft will move into the waters south of 05N and west of

100W through the latter part of the week.
