DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Bavi was

located near Latitude 17.0 degrees North and Longitude

132.5 degrees East. Bavi is moving west at 13 mph. It is expected

to make a turn toward the northwest with a slight decrease in

forward speed through Thursday, potentially exiting the region 

west of 130E around late Thursday morning to early Thursday 

afternoon.



Maximum sustained winds remain at 155 mph. Bavi is forecast to

weaken through Thursday. Bavi is forecast to maintain this intensity

through tonight, then weaken through Friday as it makes a turn to

the northwest, roughly toward Taiwan.



Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to

115 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the

center up to 300 miles.
