DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 24W was

located near Latitude 16.1 degrees North and Longitude 149.0 degrees

East. 24W is moving north-northeast at 7 mph. It is expected to turn

toward the north-northwest with a dramatic increase in forward speed

through Thursday. This general forecast track will keep 24W east of

the Marianas until it passes north of Maug.



Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph. 24W is forecast to

intensify through Thursday possibly becoming a tropical storm.
