WATCHES AND WARNINGS
--------------------

A Tropical Storm Warning a typhoon watch remain in effect for
Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan in the CNMI. 

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Tinian and Saipan 
in the CNMI.  

A Typhoon Watch means that typhoon conditions, including winds of
74 mph or more, are possible, but dependent on a faster
intensification or an eastward shift in the track.

The Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions 
are expected within 24 hours.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 400 PM CHST...0600 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Choi-wan
was located near Latitude 16.9 degrees North and Longitude 146.8 
degrees East. Choi-wan is moving west-northwest at 13 mph. It is 
expected to make a slight turn toward the west with a decrease in 
forward speed through Friday Choi-wan is also expected to continue
intensifying, likely becoming a typhoon by friday afternoon, when
it'll make a turn more to the north.

Maximum sustained winds remain at 45 mph. Choi-wan is forecast to
intensify through Friday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
140 miles to the northeast and up to 105 miles elsewhere.

The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National 
Weather Service at 800 PM ChST this evening, followed by 
an intermediate advisory at 1100 PM ChST.
