DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Champi

was located near Latitude 14.3 degrees North and Longitude

138.7 degrees East. Champi is moving west at 12 mph. It is

expected to make a slight turn toward the west-northwest with a

slight increase in forward speed through Tuesday.



Maximum sustained winds have increased to 155 mph. Champi is

forecast to intensify through tonight, potentially becoming a

Category 5 Super Typhoon.



Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to

65 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the

center up to 220 miles.
