WWSO21 ABRF 180627 IDQ20015 Australian Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre SATELLITE ANALYSIS BULLETIN Issued at 0627 UTC on 18 OCTOBER 2026 Tropical Cyclone Wati 01F 180600 UTC Located near 16.5S 162.1W Analysis based on: Visible and EIR Latitude Detection Sum: 12 Longitude Detection Sum: 10 Dvorak analysis: T2.5/2.5/S0.0/24HRS STT:S0.0/06HRS A curved band analysis of the most recent EIR imagery produced a log spiral extent of 0.5 and thus a DT of 2.5. The 24h pattern shows slight weakening and a W- trend was applied for a MET of 2.0 and a PAT of 2.5. The overall result was an FT/CI of 2.5. Prior to this, the CI had been 3.0 through the entire period since the last bulletin yesterday. However, Dvorak intensity estimates are suspected of underestimating the intensity of TC Wati. CIMSS objective intensity aids are broadly higher, though they are perhaps influenced by what may have been a false eye that appeared in the EIR imagery around 1800 UTC. In addition, earlier ASCAT-C scatterometry at 2040 UTC contained 45 kt winds, and SMOS imagery at 1656 UTC indicated at least storm force winds. The next bulletin will be available 190630 UTC
