The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  Western into North-Central South Dakota

* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 325 PM until
  900 PM MDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Widely scattered to scattered thunderstorms are forecast
to develop and intensify through the early evening.  A couple of
small thunderstorm clusters may evolve ahead of an upper disturbance
as some propensity for storms to produce outflow acts to consolidate
the severe risk by early evening.  Severe gusts 60 to 70 mph are the
primary hazard but isolated large hail near 1 inch in diameter is
possible too.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80
statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles east northeast
of Buffalo SD to 60 miles west southwest of Pierre SD. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
